As I sit here and write this post for the rainy wedding day that Eric and Megan had, I am getting caught up in thinking about how many times it has rained every weekend I’ve had a wedding this summer. I am talking about downpours, not just drizzles. I met with Eric and Megan and they told me about what they were planning and it was one of the weddings I couldn’t wait for. Everything seemed so flawless. The plan was for them to get married in Afton Villa Gardens in St. Francisville but as the rain poured on my drive there I knew that wouldn’t be the case. I wasn’t sure what kind of state Megan would be in when I got there, but she was calm. I told her I was prepared for whatever she wanted to do.
She ended up moving the ceremony last minute to the LSU Hilltop Arboretum and even though I knew this wasn’t what she really wanted we didn’t have another option. Megan wore her rubber boots and walked down the aisle to marry her best friend. I was thrilled to be a part of their very rainy wedding day.
I asked Megan what her favorite part of her wedding day was and she told me that “walking down the (makeshift) aisle after all the craziness, weather watching, and last minute venue change; seeing him standing there and knowing that no matter what plans had been ruined, the day was still perfect because I would be spending the rest of my life with my best friend.” Eric’s favorite part was “I think for me it was the group shot with our family and closest friends. Just knowing that they were there to celebrate such a special day with us meant the world to me.”
