Recently I had the pleasure of photographing Katie & Adam at Jungle Gardens! We explored the property, laughed, and talked about their upcoming wedding! I had so much fun with these two! I asked Katie to tell me a little about how her and Adam met and how he proposed. Here’s what she had to say!
“How we met:
We like to joke that we went on the world’s most awkward blind date. Adam went to the same gym as a family member of mine that had a VERY strong feeling we’d get along, so she asked if I’d be interested. She knew I’d be more willing to meet him if I wasn’t alone, so she brought up the idea of a group date. Now, a group date on its own really isn’t awkward; what makes it awkward is that the other two couples consisted of my cousins and their significant others. To make it even better, Adam only knew one of the couples, and the restaurant put us all in a big circle booth! The saving grace was that we happened to park next to each other, so we were able to talk a little one on one after walking out of the restaurant and agreed the situation was weird. In the short time by our cars, we found out we really did have a lot in common, so we exchanged numbers. I ended up asking him out first, and on our first solo date, we couldn’t stop talking through dinner, which for me is unusual. We haven’t stopped talking since! The first date was awkward, but now, we just think back on it and laugh.
The proposal:
We had already discussed getting married beforehand, but I didn’t know when the actual proposal would happen. Adam had even gotten my dad’s blessing for us to use my grandmother’s engagement ring. As a couple, we’re easily amused and try to take cheesy matching pictures for our Christmas card, including all three dogs in matching plaid vests. With two of the dogs being under two years old, we knew a group picture wasn’t going to happen, so we took their pictures first. We needed someone else to take our picture for us, and I was so focused on finding the right spot. Adam proposing was the last thing I expected on that day. Both of our mom’s happened to be there, so Adam decided it was the perfect moment. As my Mom was about to take our picture, Adam showed me the ring and got down on one knee. Afterwards, my Mom said she was so shocked she almost forgot she was supposed to be taking pictures! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect match than Adam, and now, I feel lucky to have a best friend for life.”
