I don’t really have the words to describe 2018. It was the best year of my young life. From getting engaged to getting married to the love of my life, it was definitely a year of roller coaster emotions. Matthew and I spent most of the year planning our wedding/the best day of our lives. It was perfect in every way. Caitlin & Thad of September Company photographed our day and you can check it out here.
Who would’ve thought picking a honeymoon destination would be so difficult. We had just gone to Mallorca in April and I didn’t know where I wanted to go. Matthew didn’t care as long as he was with me. Tickets to Amsterdam went on sale, and it was decided that we were going to Europe. We looked for months for connecting flights but nothing seemed to match up just right. I really wanted to be in the mountains, but nothing worked. I finally gave in and agreed to split our time between Brugge and Amsterdam. Thinking back on it, it worked out more perfectly then we could’ve planned it.
It was easy being in the city. Public transportation and walking made it easy to get everywhere. I could’ve stayed in Brugge the entire trip. It was quaint, quiet, and cozy. We climbed to the top of the Belfry, ate waffles and so much chocolate, and drank lots of beer. We stayed at the Peellaert Hotel, which is close to the city center but just outside of the busy streets.
Amsterdam was the complete opposite, but it really surprised me. I ended up sick on this portion of our trip, but Matthew made sure to make sure I didn’t feel guilty about it. We stayed at Park Hotel, right near Vondelpark and the Museum District. Which was perfect for me. We checked out the Van Gogh museum, ate stroopwafels, and went on a canal tour. The canal tour is the fastest way to see most of the city and also saved me from having to walk so much. Here are some of my favorite photographs from our trip.
